This image is not from the Iran Collection of the austrian veterian, but from Turkey. After all the years it is still one of my favorite images I have bought. Unfortunately I only know that it is from Turkey, but not from where exactly. Maybe the shirt of the man in the middle says more? Is this typical for a special region? And the wooden peg - for what have they been? Furnitures ?
2 turkish guys have seen the image and they told me that because of the shirt the man in the middle might be from the area around the Mount Ida and that he is a Tahtaci nomad. The carving he is working on are typical for the Tahtaci and it is for producing carpets/wool.
The man on the right side is an Imam of the Sunnits.
